The Altamura Center for Arts and Cultures,
located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains at 404 Winter
Clove Road in Round Top, New York, is a philanthropic
organization providing world-class cultural programs. It is
part of Inter-Cities Performing Arts, Inc, a non-profit,
tax-exempt organization founded in 1987 for the purpose of
improving ethnic, social, professional and cultural relations
in the world through the arts. The Altamura Center fosters the
development of talented vocal artists in the operatic and Bel
Canto traditions through individualized instruction,
performance study and mentoring by the great masters. It is
also the home of the Altamura E. Caruso International Voice
Competition, U.S.A
The Altamura Center
for Arts and Culture was built in May of 2000 by renowned
opera singer Carmela Altamura and her husband, Leonard.
Founded for the purpose of promoting understanding among world
peoples through study of music, the center offers the Summer
Institute “Encounters with the Masters” program, an immersion
in operatic literature and Italian culture without having to
leave the United States. Aspiring young opera singers from
around the world participate in the Institute, which is
staffed by a world-renowned
faculty.
